ART-018 John Pacovsky — "Inspired by Ingres' La Source" Absente Campaign, Michel Roux Provenance, 36" × 28"
A companion piece to our other Pacovsky Absente work — "Inspired by Ingres' La Source", an original acrylic on canvas illustration painting by John Pacovsky (American, born 1950), created for the Absente liqueur advertising campaign and published in Absente: Images and Taste of the Green Fairy (Absente V LLC, 2008). Signed lower right. From the estate of Michel Roux (1940–2019) — Absolut Vodka's visionary marketer.
This surreal composition reinterprets Ingres' celebrated classical painting La Source (1856), recasting the iconic nude female figure as she pours absinthe from a bottle into a glass, while a luminescent green absinthe fairy hovers beside her. Set against a dark green backdrop of cascading curtains and foliage, the piece creates a rich, theatrical atmosphere that perfectly captures the mystique of the absinthe tradition.
