FUR-085 Richard Hersberger for Pace Collection — Chrome Lounge Chair & Ottoman, c.1970 (No. 2 of Pair)
A lounge chair and matching ottoman designed by Richard Hersberger (American, b.1931) for Pace Collection, New York, circa 1970 — the companion piece to an identical example also in the collection (see FUR-084), forming a matching pair.
Pace Collection was the premier American purveyor of high-end modernist furniture during the 1960s and 1970s. Hersberger's chrome lounge chair — with its cantilevered chrome-plated iron frame and deeply comfortable upholstered seat and back — became one of Pace's signature pieces, combining structural drama with genuine comfort. Matching pairs of this design are significantly rarer than single examples and command a meaningful premium on the collector market.
