A rare and visually striking set of six vintage Zig-Zag chairs in the manner of Gerrit Rietveld, each finished in a different color — creating a complete De Stijl-inspired ensemble that is as much an installation as it is a set of furniture. In the style of one of the most radical and structurally audacious chair designs in the history of modern design.

The original Zig-Zag Chair was designed by Gerrit Rietveld (Dutch, 1888–1964) in 1932–33 — a seemingly impossible construction of four flat planes of wood forming a continuous Z-shape that supports a seated person without a single traditional leg. It is simultaneously a functional chair, a sculptural object, and a philosophical manifesto: the purest possible expression of the De Stijl movement's belief that all form could be reduced to geometric planes and primary relationships.

Rietveld was a founding member of De Stijl alongside Piet Mondrian — the same Mondrian whose geometric compositions inspired one of the Pacovsky Absente paintings. The multicolor paint finishes on this set directly echo De Stijl's celebrated use of primary and secondary colors as compositional elements, making these chairs a living expression of the movement's visual language.

Cassina produces the authenticated Zig-Zag Chair today at approximately $2,000–$3,000 per chair. This set of six vintage examples in the manner of Rietveld, with their distinctive multicolor finish, offers the full visual and historical impact of the design at a fraction of the cost of new production pieces.
