Scandinavian Mid-Century Modern — Teak & Cased Glass Double-Pendant Chandelier
Coral Orange & White Cased Glass with Hobnail Detail | Shaped Teak Bar | c.1960s
H 11.75 in. × W 17.5 in. × D 6 in.

A rare and striking Scandinavian midcentury double-light hanging fixture combining two sculptural coral orange and white cased glass shades with an exuberant hobnail surface texture and a warm shaped teak bar. The combination of bold color, tactile surface detail, and natural wood is quintessentially Scandinavian Modern — reflecting the design ethos of 1960s Nordic lighting studios where craft, material warmth, and vivid color were held in equal regard. The coral orange casing gives the shades a rich, luminous quality when illuminated, while the hobnail detail creates dramatic shadow and depth across the glass surface.

Cased glass — in which a layer of colored glass is fused over a white or clear inner layer during blowing — was a signature technique of Scandinavian glassmakers in the postwar decades, producing the warm, diffused glow that distinguishes the best midcentury Nordic lighting. The hobnail pattern, with its regular field of raised points, adds tactile interest and recalls the work of numerous Scandinavian glass studios active in this period. The shaped teak bar is characteristic of Danish and Swedish fixture design of the 1960s, where the contrast between warm wood grain and vivid glass was a recurring and beloved compositional strategy.

No apparent maker's labels present; attributed to Scandinavia on the basis of materials, construction, and design language. A genuinely unusual find — the specific combination of coral orange casing, hobnail detail, and double-shade teak bar configuration is uncommon on the market.
