A tall, sculptural Murano glass piece signed Seguso, made of two sweeping scrolls stacked one on top of the other and rising from a solid black glass cylinder base. Each scroll is formed in thick clear glass cased with deep black, so the edges read as crisp black lines while the centers glow clear when light passes through.
The form plays with open circles, spirals, and negative space. From the front it reads almost like a musical symbol or a calligraphy stroke drawn in glass. At 23 inches tall and only 5 inches wide, it's a strong vertical accent for a console, mantel, sideboard, or bookshelf, and the black-and-clear palette works in both modern and traditional rooms.
The Seguso family is one of the oldest glassmaking dynasties on Murano, with roots going back to 1397.
