FUR-125 Mies van der Rohe Style — Pair of Barcelona Ottomans, Tufted Black Cushions, Chrome Steel Frames, 16"H × 22.5"W × 21.5"D, c.1960s–70s
A pair of Barcelona-style ottomans after Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's iconic 1929 design — among the most enduring and widely reproduced forms in the history of modern furniture. Each ottoman features tufted black cushions set on the hallmark X-form chromed steel frame, a silhouette that has defined the language of high modernism for nearly a century. Offered as a matching pair.
The Barcelona ottoman was designed by Mies alongside the Barcelona Chair for the German Pavilion at the 1929 International Exposition in Barcelona. The design entered the Knoll collection in 1953 and has remained in continuous production — a testament to the timelessness of its proportions. These unlabeled examples follow the classic form faithfully, with the heavy chrome X-base and flat tufted cushion that made the original so influential.
