FUR-023 Erik Buch — Model OD-61 Bar Stool for O.D. Møbler, Danish Modern, Teak, c.1960s
A rare vintage bar stool by Erik Buch (Danish, 1923–1982) for O.D. Møbler (Oddense Møbelfabrik), Denmark — one of the most iconic and sought-after designs in the Danish Modern canon, and a piece that has stood the test of time so thoroughly it is still produced today.
The Model OD-61 bar stool is Buch's most celebrated design alongside his Model 49 dining chair. Buch used simple organic, smooth lines to craft distinctive mid-century modern designs, combining leather and fabric with beautifully grained woods including polished teak, oak, and rosewood. The OD-61 features a sculpted solid teak frame, a rosewood footrest, and a leather-upholstered seat — a combination of premium materials and considered proportions that makes it one of the great Danish Modern seating designs.
O.D. Møbler (originally Oddense Maskinsnedkeri) was one of the premier Danish furniture manufacturers, producing Buch's designs with the craftsmanship standards the Danish Modern movement demanded. Vintage original examples are actively sought on 1stDibs, Chairish, and by specialist MCM dealers worldwide.
