FUR-130 — Kipp Stewart for Drexel — "Declaration" Walnut Dining Chairs, Set of 7, 32.5" H × 22" W × 18" D, c.1950s–60s
A set of seven Kipp Stewart for Drexel walnut dining chairs from the celebrated "Declaration" collection — one of the most successful and enduring American mid-century furniture lines, and a perennial favorite among collectors of period MCM design.
Kipp Stewart (1928–2012) designed the Declaration collection for Drexel Furniture in the late 1950s, and it became one of the defining expressions of the American modern dining room. The line is characterized by clean walnut construction, gently tapered legs, restrained joinery, and upholstered seats — furniture that brought Scandinavian-influenced modernism to the American mainstream without sacrificing quality or craft. Declaration pieces are well-documented, consistently labeled, and actively collected.
Seven matching chairs is an unusual and highly practical quantity — enough to seat a table of six with a host chair, or to anchor a large dining room. The set includes armchairs and side chairs.
