- Nobuo "Nicky" Watanabe (Japanese/American, born 1937) — Born in Japan and educated there, Watanabe relocated to San Francisco in 1972 and became one of the most beloved chroniclers of American life in print. His whimsical, meticulous Americana scenes — influenced by Norman Rockwell, Grandma Moses, and Grant Wood — earned him extraordinary recognition: San Francisco Mayor Art Agnos declared September 16th, 1999 "Watanabe Day," and the White House selected him to design the official Easter Eggs for the Presidential Easter Egg Roll in both 1989 and 1991. His signed limited edition prints are actively collected.
