ART-019 John Pacovsky — "Piet Mondrian" Absente Campaign, Michel Roux Provenance, 36" × 28"
The third in Paul's collection of John Pacovsky Absente paintings from the Michel Roux estate — "Piet Mondrian", an original acrylic illustration on canvas reinterpreting Mondrian's iconic Lines & Planes geometric compositions. Created for the Absente liqueur advertising campaign and published in Absente: Images and Taste of the Green Fairy (Absente V LLC, 2008). Signed lower right. From the estate of Michel Roux (1940–2019).
The composition frames a Grande Absente bottle within bold primary colors, black, and white panels adhering to Mondrian's signature grid structure — while a green absinthe fairy appears in the lower right, introducing a surreal, dreamlike contrast to the rigorous geometric design. A witty and visually sophisticated dialogue between De Stijl modernism and absinthe mystique.
